Asset Types

This page allows you to add, edit, and search for existing asset types.

Navigate to AssetsAsset Types.

Add new asset type

  1. Click New Asset Type, on the bottom left.

  2. Complete the information on the page.

    The fields on the page appear in the list below:

    • Asset Type Name: Enter the name of the asset type as you would like it to appear in a field.

    • Description: Enter the description of the asset type.

    • Manufacturer: Select the manufacturer of the asset type from the search icon. You can also choose a new manufacturer:

      1. Click New manufacturer.

        A dialog opens.

      2. Fill in the Manufacturer and choose a Category/subcategory.

      3. Click Save.

      You might need permission to view New manufacturer. Your administrator can do it in Role Details, selecting the Allow new manufacturer, in Assets tab resources.
    • Status: Choose either Active or Inactive

    • Energy Group: Choose an option from the dropdown

  3. Click Save.

A new asset type doesn't appear in the Asset Types list until it gets activated by an administrator.

Search for existing asset types

Choose between the following two options to search for an existing asset type:

  • Filter by Asset type name, Description, Manufacturer, Status, or Documents in the filter, on the right side of the table.

  • Search for Asset type name, Description, Manufacturer, or Documents in the table header.

Import data

Manage multiple asset types at once by importing data using a template. This feature simplifies the process, enabling you to add, remove, or update asset types.

  1. Click Import data.

  2. On the Import data section, select one of the following:

    • Asset types: Import asset type information, including name, description, and associated attributes.
    • Asset attribute assignments: Import assignments for asset attributes to link them with asset types.
    • Problem type associations: Import associations between asset types and specific problem types for maintenance tracking.
  3. Download the template and complete it.

  4. Click Choose file.

  5. Select the file from your device and click Open.

  6. Click Import.

  7. Review the data validation results. If correct, click Insert.

Export data

Export your asset types for convenient access and easy sharing or analysis of information by clicking Export. The download process initiates, saving the file on your local device.
